Steve Guengerich is an entrepreneur, experienced business unit leader, co-founder of several software & tech services startups, and the author/producer of 10 books and numerous articles on business innovation, information technology and community. He was a founding shareholder of BSG Corporation, which was acquired by Per Se Technologies in a 1996 deal valued at $409 million. Per Se was later acquired by McKesson Corporation.
Since the mid-2000s, the software and services firms he has served as co-founder or senior executive have raised over $100 million in venture financing. Steve gets deeply involved in framing the business model, writing the business plans & investor materials, and engaging with investors. He shares his experiences as a venture builder through mentoring at Capital Factory and Powershift Group.
Among his responsibilities at Appconomy, Steve led the go-to-market activities for the company, living in Shanghai and standing up its operations in China, including recruiting key hires, contractors, and agencies, user and market research, branding, positioning, customer acquisition, PR, strategic partnerships and more.
Finally, complementing his for-profit work, Steve has an extensive background in community, civic and other public sector initiatives, having served on multiple board of directors & governors. In 1997, Guengerich became CEO of Easter Seals of Central Texas. In 1999, he co-founded Knowbility, Inc., and served as chairman of the board of directors.
Guengerich is co-author of several books on information technology topics, including “Client/Server Computing,” “Rightsizing Information Systems,” and “Building the Corporate Intranet.” And he is an adjunct professor in the Digital MBA program at St Edwards where he has taught New Venture Creation and Branding & Promotion.
