Justin loves the social consumer tech space and is currently the Head of Marketing at Backyard, an online platform for people to share in group experiences with friends over flawless voice and video.
His last role was as a Director of Growth marketing at Twitch the world’s largest video game broadcasting community, acquired by Amazon in 2014. At Twitch he built and led the performance marketing team, managing a team of media buyers with a budget of $20m to ROI positive return on ad spend. He also led Twitch’s content strategy, implemented creative automation, and drove the effort to build an LTV model that forecasted 2yr LTV.
Prior to Twitch, he was the Director of Marketing and Video Programming at The Meet Group (NASDAQ: MEET), a publicly traded social discovery company whose suite of products aims to help people make meaningful connections. He has created the partner program for top livestreaming talent across the company’s portfolio of social apps, and grew vARPDAU (average revenue per daily active user on video) for the business by 8X, representing $55M in incremental annualized revenue.
Before he entered the livestreaming space, he was the CMO and co-founder of Bae :: Before Anyone Else (acquihired by if(we)), a mobile app that connected Black singles. For two years he drove Bae’s marketing and user growth strategy, which resulted in the app becoming one of the top US consumer dating apps for people of color and registering as a top 50 lifestyle app in over 20 countries.
Earlier in his career, he has worked in marketing and product management at Microsoft and American Express. Justin is an avid supporter of diversity initiatives and co-founded the Young Mavens Society (YMS), an initiative to improve the pipeline of underrepresented minorities pursuing entrepreneurship.
