Dan Deac

Founder and Partner of Reflect Ventures

Dan Deac is the Founder and Partner of Reflect Ventures. Prior to that, he was a Managing Partner at U.S.-based BGlobal Capital, investing in Sustainability / ESG technologies with a primary focus on early-growth startups in Food, AgTech and Natural Resources.

Other than his investment focus, Deac is a startup entrepreneur and advisor. He assists startups developing a variety of technologies (from Biotech / LifeSciences to AI and general Tech) with finding optimal sources of capital – from early seed to late series and PE/alternatives. He also advises startups on operational and growth matters, product/market fit, dealing with special situations, evaluating new markets, assessing exit opportunities, identifying industry partners and placing highly effective advisors and board members.

Deac has lived for extended periods of time in several countries and has conducted business on five continents. He is the founder and partner of ChinaBase, a PE-backed company helping foreign growth-stage companies enter and expand in the Chinese and broader Asian markets. He is a co-founder of a few other startups and a mentor to a number of startup accelerators.

Formerly, he was the co-founder and CEO of VC/PE investment data platform PersonalVC, a Fellow at Sigma Prime Ventures in Boston (ex Sigma Partners), the Chief Data Officer at Databox, and the Executive Director of Business Intelligence at The Washington Post Company (Graham Holdings Company). Earlier in his career he held various engineering and management roles at startups and corporations across the U.S., Canada and Europe.

“I’ve always believed that it’s just as hard to achieve big goals as it is small ones. The only difference is that bigger goals have much more significant consequences. Since you can tackle only one personally defining effort at a time, it’s important to pursue a goal that is truly worthy of the focus it will require to ensure its success.” – Stephen Schwarzman, Chairman and CEO of The Blackstone Group
