DESCRIPTION

Asia’s market is large, unique but tough to break into. Lots of entrepreneurs aspire to succeed on this land. However, they are encountering many pitfalls and difficulties.

In order to address these obstacles, we would like to share some of the best practices to help startups grow faster and some insights about how to access the Asia market with unfair advantages from our Managing Director William Bao Bean.

Partnering with Across Asia Alliance (AAA), the “Invite-Only-Community” of select Startups, Accelerators, Investors, and Industry leaders, we will invite several Asia’s successful accelerators and incubators to join us. In the meantime, you will get the chance to listen to 15 startups elevator pitches from different accelerators and incubators.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

William Bao Bean

General Partner, SOSV

Managing Director, Chinaccelerator & MOX

Previously, William was the Managing Director of China investments at SingTel Innov8 Ventures and a Partner at Softbank China & India Holdings. William is also an active angel investor, with 39 investments between 2006 and 2014 when he joined SOSV.

In 2005, William was ranked #1 stock picker in Technology, Media and Telecom and #3 overall in Hong Kong and China by Forbes/SCMP/Starmine. The following year, he was ranked #3 analyst in Asia for Technology/Software and IT Services by Institutional Investor Magazine Asia.

Michael Hwang

Board of Directors, Across Asia Alliance

Michael is also Managing director of Bigbang Angels, Inc which is seed accelerator in Korea. He started his career as a software engineer in Samsung Electronics and was a serial entrepreneur and consultant in LG CNS, director of a mobile service platform in LG Electronics, visiting professor of KAIST.

As of 2017, Bigbang Angels’ fund has invested in a total of 60 companies which have got follow-on investment of 50M$, the total market value of 400M$. and 2 Exit cases.

Chenoa Farnsworth

Managing Partner, Blue Startups

Besides Blue Startups, she also manages the Hawaii Angels investment network, which has invested over $40 million in startup companies. In 2006, she co-founded Kolohala Ventures, a Hawai‘i-based venture capital firm that invested $50 million into Hawai‘i-based technology start-ups.

She also has experience in strategy development and business planning consultation for start-up companies and high-growth businesses through her company Farnsworth Consulting. Farnsworth has served the community as chair of the Women’s Fund of Hawai‘i, director of the Hawaii Venture Capital Association and more.

Navin Danapal

SEA Director, MOX

Navin is focused on the South-East Asia market entry of MOX, beginning with the two key primary markets of Singapore and Malaysia. He builds partnerships and alliances in the region including governments, telecommunications, universities and corporations.

Prior to SOSV, Navin was senior manager of Microsoft ecosystems in the ASEAN region. Prior to that, he was Editor of Singapore Press Holdings tech media, and held a senior role in IDG. Navin has also founded a startup during the 1997 Asian economic crisis, organised a VR hackathon in Beijing with the Chinese government and Coke, and advised a number of Asian aerospace hackathons.

Oscar Ramos

Partner & Program Director, Chinaccelerator

Oscar is a “Full stack Innovator” with expertise ranging from Product Development to corporate strategy. He has experience as an entrepreneur, Management consultant and early stage investor.

Telecom MEng and Biomedical PhD dropout, he began his career 14 years ago as an R&D engineer working in Research Center for Ericsson and Telefonica and after discovering Business Model Innovation transitioned to the world of startups. After several years working for a MedTech Startup moved to China in early 2008. Since his arrival to China has been involved in Innovation: product launches, go-to market strategies, Venture Capital financing and M&As for startups and multinationals.
